Jane Ferguson
Artist Statement "I define myself as an abstract figurative sculptor. The source of my creativity has always come from the beauty found in nature and the energy of living things. Human figures are permeated with the sensation of passionate and transformative experiences of a life lived...Clay is the most responsive material in its plastic state. It is refined from the earth which has breathed life into it. Clay has an energetic quality even in its permanent, fired, state. The glazes I use to complete the forms emphasize the simplistic nakedness of the figure with its soft sensuous curves. The surface invites the eye to explore the form. The spectator has a right to give his own significance to a work of art. My work is an aesthetic contribution to sculpture and an engaging opportunity to interact with art. The twist of an individual’s imagination is one trait that accounts for our different perceptions of reality." Jane Ferguson
